Thierry Groff

PhD Student

 

Thierry Groff has studied History and European Cultures at the University of Luxembourg and History (main focus: Ancient History) at the University of Trier. Funded by an AFR-FNR grant, he works since 2019 as a doctoral student at the University of Luxembourg. His PhD-Project focuses on an epigraphic study of the Mainz Legio XXII Primigenia Pia Fidelis and is supervised by Ass.-Prof. Dr. Andrea Binsfeld (University of Luxembourg), Prof. Dr. Christoph Schäfer (University of Trier) and Prof. Dr. Frank Daubner (University of Trier). Dr. Marcus Reuter, the director of the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Trier, is also an important partner in the project. His research interests concern the Roman Military History, the History of Roman Germany as well as the socio-economic History of the Roman West.
